Important tax deadlines for millions of French residents, venues across the country take part in the European Night at the Museum event – and it’s a big week for sports fans, with one major tournament starting, and three ending

Monday

Courts – A civil hearing in the Kim Kardashian robbery case gets under way.

International – G7 finance ministers are set to meet in Paris.

French Open Tennis – The second Grand Slam tournament of the tennis season, Roland Garros, gets under way. Carlos Alcaraz will be looking for a third men’s singles title in a row after going back to back last year in a five-hour 20 minute thriller last year against Jannik Sinner; while Coco Gauff is set to defend the women’s singles crown she won for the first time. Tuesday

Taxes — The deadline for anyone mailing their physical paper income tax returns to the tax office.

Politics – MPs in the National Assembly are set to vote on the Military Planning Act.

Space – The ESA’s SMILE mission, which will study the effects of solar winds on the Earth, launches from Kourou, Guyane.

Wednesday 

Environment – The six-day Fête de la nature gets under way, with events planned across the country. Find out more, here.

Thursday 

Taxes II – Online French income tax declarations for anyone living in départements 1 to 19 – or if you live outside of France – must be submitted by 11.59 pm.

Consumer — Central Parc Valvert, one of France’s largest retail parks opens to the public in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, Essonne.

Friday

Sport – A double whammy of primetime cup final action for French sport fans. Montpellier take on URC side Ulster in rugby union’s Challenge Cup final at Bilbao’s San Mames Stadium. The match kicks off at 9pm, and will be broadcast on France 4 and beIN Sport. At the same time RC Lens face OGC Nice in the final of football’s Coupe de France, which will be broadcast on France 2 and beIN Sport.

Saturday 

Culture – Museums across France will keep their doors open late into the night as part of the European night of museums. You can find all the museums that are participating across France here.

Film – The 79th edition of the Cannes film festival draws to a close at the Palais des festivals et des congrès in Cannes.

Rugby – Champions Cup holders Bordeaux defend their title against URC outfit Leinster in Bilbao. The match kicks off at 3.45pm, and will be broadcast on France TV and beIN Sport.

Sunday

Pentecôte – the Christian festival celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit to the disciples of Jesus after his Ascension, is on Sunday. The following day, Monday, May 25th (lundi de Pentecôte), is a public holiday for many people.
