Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday effected a major reshuffle in bureaucrats with MA Siddique, Managing Director, Chennai Metro Rail Limited, appointed as the new Finance Secretary in the Tamil Nadu government. He will replace T Udhayachandran.
Siddique, an IAS officer of Tamil Nadu Cadre belonging to the batch of 1995, had served in various capacities in the Tamil Nadu government and at the Centre. He has been working as Managing Director of CMRL since June 2022.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technology in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras.
Prior to CMRL, he was Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, from 2019 to 2021, and Commissioner of Revenue Administration from December 2021.
He held the post of Principal Secretary (Expenditure), Finance Department from 2017 to 2019.
In the Government of India, Siddique worked as Director in the Department of Expenditure for a year in 2008-2009 and worked in two key ministries of Home and Finance for five years between 2009 and 2014.
Meanwhile, former Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, on return from leave, is posted as Additional Chief Secretary / Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Disaster Management replacing P Amudha, holding additional charge.
S Swarna, Principal Secretary/ State Project Director, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, is transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to Government, Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments Department vice K. Manivasan, IAS, holding additional charge.
The services of K Nanthakumar, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, is placed at the disposal of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC), for appointment as its Managing Director vice T. Christuraj, says a government order.
