Unions representing French staff at the budget airline easyJet have called a last-minute strike over the Easter weekend.
The union representing cabin crew with easyJet has called a 24-hour strike on Easter Monday (April 6th) over what they say is a degradation in their working conditions, particularly around rotas and advance notice for shifts.
The strike notice covers all six French bases – Paris-Orly, Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle, Lyon, Nice, Bordeaux and Nantes – and covers the whole of April 6th.
There may also be knock-on disruption on Tuesday if planes end up in the wrong place.
Union des navigants de l’aviation civile (Unac) said that strike notice, issued on Thursday, followed a breakdown in annual negotiations with the company.
EasyJet said that is was “very disappointed” with the decision to strike, and said that it would try to minimise disruption for travellers – anyone whose flight is affected should be contacted directly by the airline.
Easter Monday is usually a busy travel weekend as people return from trips away, taking advantage of the long weekend.
Trains are already mostly sold out over the holiday weekend on the high-speed TGV lines, while the traffic watchdog Bison futé is warning of heavy traffic on Friday and Monday.
