France’s Spring Covid-19 vax campaign launches, some kids head back to school after their holidays, football’s Coupe de France reaches the semi-final stage, and south-west France hosts a festival of ham.

Monday 

Courts — Elon Musk summoned in a French investigation into alleged abuses on social media platform X. 

Vaccines — France’s spring Covid-19 vaccination campaign — which aims to provide enhanced protection to those most at risk during the summer months — gets under way.

Back to school — Children attending schools in Zone A, which includes both Lyon and Bordeaux, head back to class after their two-week Spring break.

Politics — French President Emmanuel Macron will travel to Gdansk, Poland, where he will meet Prime Minister Donald Tusk to discuss strengthening defence cooperation.

Tuesday 

AI — Just over a month before the real Cannes Film Festival corners the market in red carpet, the Riviera resort hosts the second annual World AI Film Festival.

Football — Lens host Toulouse in the first semi-final of the Coupe de France. The match kicks off at 9.10pm. It will be broadcast on France 2 and beIN SPORTS.

Wednesday

Environment — The annual Earth Day event to demonstrate support for environmental protection. 

Football — The second Coupe-de-France semi-final between RC Strasbourg Alsace and Nice kicks off at 9.10pm. It will be broadcast on beIN SPORTS.

Thursday

Politics — Environmental ministers from G7 nations are due to meet in Paris.

Food — Bayonne, in south-west France, celebrates its culinary heritage as the four-day Foire au Jambon gets under way.

Saturday 

Sport — The third round of the Women’s Six Nations kicks off with England v Wales, followed by Italy v Scotland. The big match of the day, France v Ireland, at Stade Marcel Michelin, in Clermont-Ferrand, kicks off at 9.10pm and will be broadcast on France 2.

Sunday

Holidays — It’s the last day of the Spring break for children attending schools in Zone B, which includes Aix, Lille, Nantes and Nice. They return to class on Monday, meaning only children at schools in Zone C (including Paris and Toulouse), who broke up on Friday 18th, are still on holiday.
