IRB Infrastructure Trust’s Project SPV commences Tolling on Chandikhole Bhadrak Section (TOT-18) of NH-16 from today

IRB Chandibhadra Tollway Pvt. Ltd., a Project SPV of IRB Infrastructure Trust (An Associate of IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd) has commenced Tolling on Chandikhole Bhadrak Section of NH-16 from today, 1st April 2026 at 00.00 Hrs, after receiving Appointed Date from NHAI. 

The Project SPV made payment of Upfront Concession Fee of Rs.3,087Crs to NHAI on 30th March 2026 after achieving Financial Closure for the Project. 

Commenting on the development, Mr. Virendra D. Mhaiskar, Chairman and Managing Director of IRB Group said, “We are pleased to unveil our strategic entry into Odisha, marking the Group’s presence in 13 Indian States, with the addition of Chandikhole–Bhadrak Section on NH-16 (TOT-18). Part of India’s prestigious Golden Quadrilateral, this high-potential corridor is a vital link between the Southern and Eastern regions, enabling safer, faster, and more efficient travel. The corridor also receives steady pilgrimage and tourism-linked traffic supporting regional growth”. He further said, “We thank NHAI, our lenders – Union Bank of India – and our partners – GIC, Singapore and Ferrovial Group – for their continued support, and remain committed to delivering best-in-class services throughout the concession period. This project is expected to further strengthen our toll revenue growth.”

To reiterate, IRB Infrastructure Trust emerged as the highest bidder for the project and its Project SPV signed the Concession Agreement with NHAI on 4th February 2026 for Tolling and O&M of the project.

However, similar statements from U.S. President Donald Trump in the past have triggered only short-lived rallies, as they lacked confirmation from Iranian officials and failed to sustain momentum. From a technical perspective, the market structure continues to remain weak. The index is trading well below its 10-day and 21-day EMAs, placed around 23050 and 23550 respectively. As long as prices remain below the 21-day EMA, overall sentiment is likely to stay fragile. A decisive close above the 23550–23600 resistance zone is essential to revive bullish sentiment. On the downside, immediate support is placed at 22280.

At the same time, price action indicates that Bitcoin is facing resistance near the $68,500–$70,000 zone, with recovery momentum at risk if it fails to hold above key support levels. This reflects that market currently is reacting sharply to geopolitical developments, with short-term rallies quickly fading amid mixed signals.

Going forward, Bitcoin appears to be at a critical juncture. Holding above the $67,000–$68,000 support zone could allow for another attempt toward the $70,000 level, while a breakdown below this range may open the door for further downside, keeping the market in a volatile and range-bound phase.”
