TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 1. Uzbek and
British officials have met to discuss ways to ease Uzbek companies’
access to the British market, as well as ways to strengthen
bilateral business-to-business ties and provide more resources for
supporting local companies, Trend reports via the Chamber of Commerce and Industry
of Uzbekistan.
The discussions took place during a meeting in London between
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan
Davron Vakhabov and representatives of the British Chambers of
Commerce, including Director for International and Local Businesses
Anna-Maria Martin and Strategy Manager Ben Martin.
The sides reviewed Uzbekistan’s export potential and
fast-growing sectors of the economy. In particular, electrical
engineering, textiles, food production, jewelry, and tourism were
identified as priority areas for bilateral cooperation.
It was also noted that an Uzbek delegation is expected to take
part in the annual conference of the British Chambers of Commerce,
scheduled for June this year. The event is expected to further
strengthen business ties between the two countries.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to deepen cooperation,
organize joint business missions, and support the entry of Uzbek
companies into the UK market.
