10 Reasons to Spend the Spring Bank Holiday in Le Touquet

From Monday 25 to Sunday 31 May 2026, the elegant Opal Coast resort of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage is rolling out the red, white and blue carpet for its British neighbours with a brand-new event: French Week, a “Rendez-Vous” in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage.

A full week of activities, all delivered in English, all designed to let UK visitors slip effortlessly into the French art de vivre. Some are free, others are offered at very friendly prices, and every one of them can be booked online before you set off.

Here are 10 reasons to make Le Touquet your Spring Bank Holiday escape this year.

1. It Really Is Closer Than You Think

Le Touquet sits just across the Channel, a short hop via Eurotunnel, ferry or even a private flight into the resort’s own Elizabeth II airport. You can leave London after breakfast and be strolling the seafront in time for a late lunch. No long-haul faff, no jet lag, no compromise on the holiday feeling.

2. The Most British of French Resorts

Le Touquet has flirted with Britain since the Edwardian era, when it became the playground of choice for London society. That Anglo-French DNA is still everywhere; in the mock-Tudor villas, the manicured lawns, the racecourse and the golf clubs. French Week is the resort’s way of saying welcome back: a programme built around British tastes, with everything explained, hosted and guided in English.

3. A Whole Week of Activities Designed Just for You

Every day brings something new. Padel and tennis, horseback rides through the pine forest, sailing and kayaking on the Canche estuary, golf on championship courses, guided tours of the town and its art-deco quarter, even a guided visit to the historic Elizabeth II airport. Pick a few, pick a lot, or pick the lot.

4. Sand Yachting on One of Europe’s Great Beaches

Le Touquet’s beach is the stuff of postcards: miles of pale, hard-packed sand backed by dunes and pine. It’s also one of the best places in Europe to try sand yachting, strap yourself into a wind-powered buggy and skim along the shoreline at exhilarating speed. A proper “only in Le Touquet” memory.

5. Dinner by a 2-Michelin-Starred Chef

As part of the Garden & Homeware fair, on Saturday, 30th of May, the week culminates in a dinner by Chef Alexandre Gauthier, one of the most exciting names in modern French gastronomy and the holder of two Michelin stars. Inventive, seasonal, rooted in the Opal Coast: a properly memorable evening, and the kind of culinary moment that turns a weekend away into a story you’ll tell for years.

6. Wednesday Is Kids’ Day

If you’re travelling as a family, Wednesday, 27th May is the day to circle. Pony rides, merry-go-round, mini-golf, a meet-and-greet with Le Caddy (the resort’s golfing mascot), the Kids’ Beach Club, and a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the airport. Children eat it up; parents get to enjoy their coffee in peace.

7. “Le British Tour” by Bike

A guided cycle ride built especially for our British visitors, pedalling between the town’s most quintessentially Anglo-French landmarks: the villas, the gardens, the racecourse, the golf clubs. It’s a charming, low-effort way to understand why Le Touquet has always felt like a slice of Britain by the sea, only with better pastries.

8. A Gourmet Experience (and Tax-Free Shopping)

Meet the best artisan producers in town: biscuit makers, chocolatiers, cheesemongers, the lot. Throw in the three town markets running across the week, a guided tour of La Manufacture du Touquet, and the Sunday Quentovic Farmers’ Market, and you’ll head home with a suitcase that smells fantastic. UK visitors also benefit from tourist tax-free shopping. a meaningful saving on bigger purchases.

9. Pétanque, Padel & a Guinguette Evening

French Week leans into the social side of French life. Try a padel initiation (the sport Europe can’t stop talking about), then on Friday evening join a pétanque session in proper guinguette style, with fairy lights, an apéritif, that easy holiday hum of laughter and clinking glasses. It’s the France you came for.

10. Classic Cars, Garden Fairs & Roaring Twenties Glamour

Round off the week in style: a classic car gathering on Saturday morning (followed, naturally, by an apéritif), a weekend Garden & Homeware Fair, and guided tours of the Town Hall and the resort’s astonishing 1920s villa quarter. Le Touquet was the glamorous getaway a century ago, and it still wears that era beautifully.
