French pilots involved in a pay dispute have filed a last-minute strike notice running from Wednesday to Monday, with the possibility of renewal into the following week.
The Syndicat national des Pilotes de Ligne union filed the strike notice covering the period Wednesday, May 13th to Monday, May 18th, with a ‘renewable’ notice which means that the action could continue after that date if the dispute is not settled.
The strike covers pilots working for the budget airline French Bee, which is part of the same group as the Caribbean airline Air Caraïbes.
The airline told French media that it expected flights on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to operate normally, but could not confirm the weekend schedule. Anyone with a flight booked with French Bee is advised to contact the airline.
The dispute is over pay, with the union saying that salaries have been frozen for two years, while pilots are also not compensated for flying long-haul routes.
